#0032 – Phyre Phryday V/Blog 12/18/2020 – (TD) Toggle Drill:

How you can do ANY WOOD IN THE WORLD!

Hello Global Tribe of PhyreKeepers (GTOP)!

12/18/2020 – Welcome to Phyre Dojo’s 32nd Phyre Phryday Vlog.

A day late and a dollar short…again… I had plans to do different subjects but ran out of time.

This is TOO LONG a converstion to have here, BUT I am 100% on board with empirical evidence and S.T.E.A.M. proof. Here are my (TD) Toggle Drill videos from my visit to Japan in 2019.

I am INCREDIBLY HOMESICK for Japan, but Japan, as well as a lot of the World, is not letting anyone from the US into their countries, and for legitimate and obvious reasons.

In these 2 videos, I am teaching with TAKU KAWAGUCHI of WILD AND NATIVE (www.WildAndNative.com). https://wildandnative.com/ These are Taku’s students at his bushcraft school where we went over and demonstrated EVERY METHOD IN THE WORLD. On the second day of the Workshop, we did (TD) TOGGLE DRILL. And, (TD) Toggle Drill’s “claim to fame” is that in fact you could do ANY Woood in the World. NO MATTER HOW HARD/DENSE.

The (TD) Toggle Drill Set here is made COMPLETELY of MACASSAR EBONY (Diospyros Celebica). The Toggles, Pressure “T” Brace, Reloader Spindle, Reloads and the Hearth! ALL Macassar Ebony!

You haven’t lived until you’ve tried to make a Phryction Phyre Set with Woods that hard! Can’t wait to make more!

Macassar Ebony | The Wood Database – Lumber Identification (Hardwood) (wood-database.com)

Diospyros celebica – Wikipedia

Macassar Ebony has a JANKA HARDNESS RATING of: 3,220 !!!

(For comparison, Western Red Cedar is only 350…)

Janka hardness test – Wikipedia

This was the 1st time I demonstrated the S.T.E.A.M. possibilities of Phryction PhyreKeeping at this level overseas.

In Jauary of 2020, the LES PRIMITIFS Tribe did an even HARDER WOOD with their (TD) Toggle Drill: A wood named IPE from South America with a Janka of 3, 684!

ENJOY!
