Hello Global Tribe of PhyreKeepers (GTOP)!
02/12/2021 – Welcome to Phyre Dojo’s 40th Phyre Phryday Vlog.
So, for the past month I have been working on an Order for a (HD) Hand Drill Set. There was a communication that this person also wanted some Sets that would be appropriate for his 2 young girls. I said I would “come up with something.”
So, as I mention in this week’s VLOG video, (and as well as multiple times in the past), for young children, the best Method to start them off with for an introduction into the Universe of Phryction PhyreKeeping is: The (PD) Pump Drill.
The 2nd Method young children should be challenged with in PhyreKeeping is: The (CD) Crutch Drill. It is the most structually stable for children to use than the most commonly known (BD) Bow Drill.
Here is this week’s VLOG video, I test these 2 (PD) Pump Drill Sets and the 1 (HD) Hand Drill Set. I start with the (HD) Hand Drill Set comprised of a HORSEWEED (Conyza Canadensis) Spindle on a Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata) Bento Box Base Case Style HearthBoard. Then, I explain how I decided to create and personalize the 2 (PD) Pump Drill Sets made of WHITE ASH (Fraxinus Americana) with Reloads of Poplar (Poplus Spp.) on 2 different HearthBoards of Pine (Pinus Spp.) and Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata).
Did they work? Did they work well? It’s all on the video….
There are MANY types of POPLAR (POPLUS SPP.) (Cottonwood/Aspen/Poplar), but here, I chose:

There are MANY types of PINE (PINUS SPP.), but here I chose:

WHITE ASH (Fraxinus Americana) has a JANKA HARDNESS RATING of 1,320.

(For comparison, Atlantic White Cedar (Chamaecyparis Thoyoides) OR Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata) (i.e. “Your Cedar (BD) Bow Drill“) are ONLY Janka Hardness Rated: 350…)
